Artist Statement: The nature aspect of photography has always been my favorite but I have also captured many photos of family and friends. Southeast Missouri is a great place to photograph due to the still prevalent swamps, wetland areas, and Ozark Mountain Range; but traveling is something I love to do and capturing America along the way fits. Through my lens I like to capture the everyday scenes that we take for granted. I love the play of shadow and light on a subject, if it catches my eye it will be caught digitally.
Going totally digital has allowed me much more freedom in my photography. Before I head out into nature, research on destinations is done at my computer. Then, once I get to my destination for the first time, I make notes in my book for follow-up visits and begin taking photos to capture the moment. Photos are produced with the highest quality equipment, software, and photo papers. Although I print glossies, I really specialize in printing my nature photos on canvas. After 24 hours of drying, the canvas is sealed with multiple coats of a UV-Resistant Acrylic Clear Coat. The total printing to framing time takes about 5 days on each art piece. Glossy prints can be produced many times; I limit the canvas production to ONE (1). Once the canvas is produced, only open prints and limited prints will be available of that canvas.
Having won several awards and having been published, my photos can be seen through Regional, National, and International juried art exhibitions. My art can be seen at galleries locally and across the country.
